Additional to the three base rooms, here at Tower Hill Nursery we are very lucky to have additional indoor and outdoor spaces where children can have extra experiences, which are not always available in an early years' environment. Extra areas in the environment and activities bring the curriculum to life; all created to support well being, development and individuality.
Three outside gardens
– we aim to connect children to nature; learning new skills in the great outdoors. Children are encouraged to explore and investigate the natural environment. They are actively involved in tending to the herb garden and the allotment area. Across the two gardens there is a mud kitchen, allotment patch, herb garden, wild grass, free access to outdoor taps in both gardens, a climbing wall and a large soft floored area for wheeled toys and other physical activities. Our third garden is for our 0-2's to explore.
Boot room
– storage for wellingtons and waterproof clothing so the children can be ready for outdoor play in all weather.
Sensory room
– this is to support children’s well being and development by engaging their senses. Resources include water, lights, sounds, mirrors and textiles. The room is used by either a small group of children or on a one-to-one for all children of all ages. It offers a number of different key learning experiences.
Language room
- a quiet space to focus on listening and communication, developing the imagination through the use of books, music, rhymes and puppets.
Children’s kitchen- we have low level units and washing facilities to allow children to be involved in food preparation in a safe environment and to help them build an understanding of good hygiene.
Hall
– this allows indoor large physical activities. Pre-school children also have their meals in the hall to support the transition to school.
Parent’s room
– provides a quiet and comfortable space for parents. It is available for all parents at any time and is ideal for settling in periods, review meetings with your child's key person, catch up with other parents or just somewhere to sit before collecting your child.
Meeting room
– for parents to use when meeting with their child's key person, manager or other professionals. A computer is available for parents who require support applying for funding for school places.
